Of course, not all surprises are good ones.  These players and teams have not exactly gotten off to the kind of starts that they were expecting.

About 10 games into the season, we haven't reached the point where we should be drawing any definitive conclusions (this is the equivalent of Week 1 in the NFL, after all).  But we have seen enough baseball to be at least a little surprised with the performance of some players and teams.

Milestone


One of the game's elder statesmen reached a milestone statistic yesterday.  Omar Vizquel, the 43 year old third baseman for the White Sox nabbed his 2,800th hit.

Opening Day(s) Stats


Now that we've got Opening Day(s) out of the way, I thought I'd share some of the stats that jumped out at me.

Thanks to his big fly yesterday, Chone Figgins, is on pace to hit 162 HR's this year.  Ok, I know that's ridiculous but he should at least be able to surpass last year's total of 1.
